COVID-19 Update

As of this week with everything starting to reopen we will begin to have services at the Funeral Home. We are still practicing social distancing by seating every other row as well as other precautionary measures as needed or requested by our families. If you have questions regarding a service please feel free to contact us. McManis Gary

Gary Jay McManis, age 72, of Lamar, Missouri passed away February 28, 2020 in Lamar.

Gary was born November 5, 1947 in Lockwood, MO to Albert Jay McManis and Lena Justine (Mayo) McManis. He graduated from Lamar High School in the class of 1966 and went on to study at MSSU. On September 23, 1977, Gary married Diane Hines in Lamar, MO.

Gary worked as an insurance agent for over 45 years, was a member of the Optimist Club, enjoyed fishing, hunting, and was an avid Cardinal's baseball fan.

Survivors include parents Albert and Justine McManis, Lamar, MO; Diane McManis, Lamar, MO; a son Brock McManis, Lamar, MO; a daughter Brista Poor and her husband Justin, Springfield, MO; two brothers, Bob McManis and wife Carolyn, Lamar, MO; Gayland McManis and wife Carla, Golden City, MO; a sister Judy Ferris, Lamar, MO; and one grandson Jaydin McManis. He was preceded in death by a brother-in-law Larry Ferris.

A Memorial Service will be 4:00 p.m., Thursday, March 5, 2020, at Daniel Funeral Home.

The family will receive friends following the service.

Contributions are suggested and made payable to Barton County Sr. Center in care of Daniel Funeral Home.

I was shocked to just read about Gary's passing away. I PRAY for Him and his family. We had alot of FUN while attending school school together. He was ALWAYS smiling and SOOOFRIENDLY toward ALL> MAY GOD BLESS YOU!!

I attended MSSU with Gary. I had not seen him since 1967, but have fond memories of his great sense of humor and his amiable personality.

I pray his family will be comforted by the grace and compassion of Jesus our Lord.
