COVID-19 Update

As of this week with everything starting to reopen we will begin to have services at the Funeral Home. We are still practicing social distancing by seating every other row as well as other precautionary measures as needed or requested by our families. If you have questions regarding a service please feel free to contact us. Lawrence LaDean

 Margaret LaDean “Deana” (Coffey) Lawrence, age 93, of Lamar, MO, passed away on Tuesday, April 14, 2020 at Cox Barton County Hospital with her loving family by her side. Deana was born on June 25, 1926 in Liberal, MO, one of four children, born to Edward Coffey and Moscylene (Peal) Coffey. Deana attended Liberal High School. She married Roy J. Wimer, in 1942, and together they had three children. He preceded her in death in 1958.

Deana later met Harel Linard Lawrence and they were married in 1960, and celebrated 40 years together, making their home in rural Lamar, where they farmed for many years. Deana and Linard had two children together. Linard preceded her in death on July 1, 2000.

Deana was a homemaker and longtime resident of Lamar. In her younger years, she worked at Big Smith, Lamar Super Market, and waitressing. Deana was a loving mother and grandmother and loved to cook and bake for family and friends, especially her pies. She enjoyed gardening, helping out at harvest time and mowing her lawn for many years on her John Deere Tractor. Her greatest joy in life was the time she spent with granddad Linard, her children, grandchildren, great grandchildren, great-great grandchildren, along with helping others in the community. She was a member of Lamar First Baptist Church.

Survivors include her two sons, John (Karen) Lawrence Lamar, MO and Harel Lawrence, Lamar, MO; two daughters, Nancy Wimer (Kenny) McCall, Lamar, MO and Sharon Wimer (Earl) Higgins, Joplin, MO; 11 grandchildren, Kailey, David, Jason, Katie, Barry, Aaron, Leslie, Kurt, Leigh Ann, Rebecca, and Eric; 28 great-grandchildren and eight great-great grandchildren; a sister, Mary Sue Wolf, Scottsboro, AL; and one brother, Earl Coffey, Silverton, OR.

She was preceded in death by one son, Larry Wimer, 2010, and one sister, Merlene “Mert” Sherron, in 2003.

A private family graveside service will be held at Lake Cemetery, Lamar, MO

A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.

Contributions are suggested and made payable Iantha Cemetery or Lake Cemetery in care of Daniel Funeral Home.

John, Karen and Kailey, Our thoughts, our prayers have been with you and will continue. We are so sorry for the loss of your mother, made even harder because even though we want to be there for you, we can't due to the current circumstances.
