 Hagins Gene

Milton Eugene Hagins, age 62, of Lamar, MO passed away October 27, 2020, at Freeman Hospital, Joplin, MO.

Gene worked for Thorco Industries for 40 years and had worked at Stanley Milling for the past three years. He also owned and operated Gene's Lawn Care Service for eight years, which included servicing and repairing other people's lawnmowers and weed eaters. He loved hunting and fishing and was an avid sports fan of baseball and basketball, but his passion was football, especially the Kansas City Chiefs. Gene helped with anything and everything at the First Christian Church, which included helping his wife with the three to five-year-old children in the Bible Bees Class.

Survivors include his wife of 41 years; one son, Jonathan Lee (Kimberlee) Hagins, Lamar, MO; one daughter, Amanda Lou (Josh) Blanchard, Lamar, MO; one brother, Lonnie (Pat) Hagins, Cassville, MO; one sister, Linda Lou Hagins, Lamar, MO; brothers and sisters in law, Linda Arlene Hagins, Carthage, MO, John Rea, Nowata, OK, Lavinia Rea, Weir, KS, Darrell (Kim) Rea, Lamar, MO, Charlette (Wayne), Lamar, MO, Peggy (Richard) Blanchard, Lamar, MO, David (Betty) Rea, Nowata, OK; six grandchildren, Auri Blanchard, Shadol Blanchard, Kayne Blanchard, Malia Blanchard, Taralee Hagins, and Grayson Hagins; and a host of nieces, nephews and friends.

Gene has always been such a strong example and inspiring role model to me through serving people. He really lived out our saying, "To be the hands and feet of Jesus" is a great calling. I will miss his genuine smile and the way he could make anyone feel right at home in our church building. Another friend I look forward to seeing at the feet of our Lord Jesus.

God bless Beverly and all the family. Eugene was a very consistent Encourager Sunday School class member at First Christian Church. I cannot think of even one time when I would walk in and not find Eugene smiling, grinning, or laughing. He just always seemed to be glad he was there and enjoyed being a part of the class. He was the type of guy people were glad to see and be around. So many people will miss him and everyone in our class most certainly will. As Christians, we know Eugene is siting at the feet of Jesus as we shall be someday too and looking forward to seeing him again.
May The LORD comfort Beverly and all the family during this especially difficult time.
