 Sutherland Glenola

Glenola June Sutherland was born April 29, 1938 in rural Lamar, MO to Claude Goldman and Dorothy Lorene (Lucas) Bruffey. Glenola attended rural grade schools and graduated from Lamar High School in the class of 1957. She married Harvey Sutherland on August 8, 1958 and loved him until she departed for heaven on October 28, 2020.

Glenola was a very devoted homemaker and loved to help people in her jobs in retail stores, which included Robert's Department Store, The Rag Bag, Horton's Five & Dime, all in Lamar, MO, as well as Flory's Drug Store in Nevada, MO.

She loved to serve God by teaching children's Sunday School and Christian Girl's Camps. As her husband's career took them to different areas of Missouri, she had the privilege to serve in churches in Branson, Nevada, Fulton, and Lamar.

Glenola is survived by her husband, Harvey Sutherland; two sisters, Darlene Sitton of Lamar, MO and Martha Bruffey of Kansas City, KS; two brothers, Wayne Bruffey of Everton, MO and Keith Bruffey of VA; several loving nieces and nephews, and many friends.

Preceding Glenola in death were her parents and a brother Jerry Bruffey.

Funeral services will be at 10:00 a.m. Monday, November 2, 2020, at Daniel Funeral Home with burial at 2:00 p.m. at Greenlawn North Cemetery, Springfield, MO.

The family will receive friends from 9:30 until service time, Monday at the funeral home.

What a gracious lady Glenola was. Most of my clothes growing up were from Roberts Department Store or mom making them from material purchased at the Rag Bag. Glenola was the clerk on a lot of those purchases. She was always so kind and helpful and lived Galations 5:22-23. Prayers of comfort to all who knew and loved her.
