Patricia "Pat" Sue Sheat, age 81, of Lamar, Missouri passed away May 4, 2020, at St. Luke's Nursing Center, Carthage, MO.

Pat was born March 8, 1939 in Sheldon, MO to Claude M. Bass and Helen Mae (Mann) Bass. She was a graduate of Joplin, Missouri High School. On July 28, 1957, Pat married the love of her life, George E. Sheat at Bethany Baptist Church in Rural Lamar.

Pat was a homemaker and a loving and devoted mother.  She treasured her children and grandchildren and embraced any chance to celebrate with them. She enjoyed visiting and playing cards at the Barton County Sr. Center and was always helping with funeral dinners at the church. When her children were younger, she was the PTA President in Liberal, MO. She also was a school bus driver and kept busy driving grain trucks, plus all the other things that come with being a farm wife. Pat was the Music Director for a time at the 1st Baptist Church in Liberal, where she was a member most of her married life until moving to Lamar and has been an active member of the 1st Baptist Church of Lamar since. Pat worked at O'Sullivan Industries for several years after her children were out of the home.

Survivors include her husband George Sheat; two sons, Bruce (Cheryl) Sheat and Chris (Dana) Sheat, both of Lamar; two daughters, Brenda (Tom) McKay, Jasper, MO and Teresa (Russell) Foster, Kansas City, MO; one brother, Bill Bass, Kansas City, MO; one sister, Martha Bass, Girard, KS; ten grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren.  She was preceded in death by her parents, and two brothers, Tom and Mike Bass. 

Funeral services will be 2:00 p.m. Friday, May 8, 2020 at Lamar First Baptist Church with burial to follow in Memory Gardens Cemetery.

Contributions are suggested and made payable to First Baptist Church Building Fund or Barton County Sr. Center in care of Daniel Funeral Home.

I am so sorry that we have lost another member of our family. There are no words to say how much she was loved and how much she will be missed. We loved Aunt Pat and pray for comfort for the hearts who are hurting.

My heart is heavy with the pain I know you all feel. Pat was a woman of faith and is with God. She was a strong and prominent member of our family. She was a wonderful person. She was always giving and kind and had a beautiful smile. We will miss her very much.
