Lloyd Holtzen
 
     
Lloyd Eugene Holtzen was born in Carleton, NE on December 11, 1931 to Herbert and Alvina (Braun) Holtzen.  He was baptized in 1931 in the Lutheran Church in Hebron, NE.
 
In 1940, the family moved to Lockwood, MO and he attended the Lutheran School at Meinert, MO and was confirmed in 1945 by Pastor Eggart. In 1946 the family moved to Lamar, MO and he attended Lamar High School and graduated in 1950.  In 1951 Lloyd enlisted in the United States Navy and was a payroll clerk. In 1952, he married Reba Davis and together they raised four daughters. Reba passed away in 1996 after 43 years of marriage.
 
In 1955, after Lloyd was discharged from the Navy, he was employed at Lawn Boy and in 1963, he accepted a job with Citation Manufacturing Co in Siloam Spring, AR. The highlight of his career was as controller for Citation, when he testified before the US Congress. 
 
In 1978, he moved back to Lamar, working for Bell Egg Production Company. In 1983 he moved to Carthage working for General Irrigation Company as a controller. He had also worked at PAR Inc in Jasper, MO and Precision Paint in Carl Junction, MO until his retirement.  Lloyd was always a loyal and dedicated employee throughout his entire work career. Lloyd was a member of the Lions Club and Kiwanis Club for many years.  He also enjoyed bowling, fishing, as well as growing vegetables, and raising chickens, ducks, sheep and goats.
 
On October 28, 2000 he married Mary Jane (Fell) Conard and they made their home in North Miami, OK. 
 
Survivors include his wife Mary Holtzen of the home; four daughters and their husbands, Dianna Banning, Aurora, MO, Debbie and Lee Dunk, Tontitown, AR, Denise and Ron Ketcher, Watts, OK and Dana and Rob Thurlo, Webb City, MO; four stepchildren and their spouses, Larry and Lisa Conard, Baxter Springs, KS, Kenny and Keri Conard, Baxter Springs, KS, Doug and Sandra Conard, Florida, and Deanna and Earl Sherwood, Wyandotte, OK; two sisters, Donna Selvey, Bolivar, MO and Lucille Schilling, Frazier, MI; fourteen grandchildren, Jason Thompson, Justin Thompson, Beau Banning, Matthew Smith, Kaleb Forkner, Kallie Thurlo, Tiffany Conard, Todd Conard, Jacob Conard, Dustin Conard, Nichole Conard, Zack Kellogg, Trinton Kellogg and Amberly Conard; and 18 great-grandchildren.
 
He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Reba Holtzen and a sister Ruth Alday.
 
A graveside service will be held at 10:30 a.m. Friday, August 7, 2020 at Lake Cemetery with full military honors.
