Albert Yonkers

Albert Brian Yonkers, age 84, of rural Jasper, Missouri, passed away Wednesday, October 10, 2012 at Truman Healthcare Center in Lamar.      Albert was born August 14, 1928, at Grand Rapids, Michigan to Albert and Leone (O'Brien) Yonkers.  His military service included tours of duty in the Navy, then the Air Force, followed by many years in reserve duty.  At the completion of his active military tours, Al moved his family from California to Barton County.  In addition to farming, he had worked at Thorco Industries for many years.      On June 6, 1954, at Reno, Nevada, Albert married Viola Mae Donalson and they had shared 49 years together before her death April 26, 2004.  He was also preceded in death by his parents; a brother, John K. Yonkers; and a sister, Nancy Wojtaszak.      Survivors include his son, Robert Yonkers, Jasper; a granddaughter, Kaitlyn Marie Yonkers, Joplin; a brother, James T. Yonkers, Brisbane, Australia; and a sister, Sharon Marie Suggs, Roseville, California.      Honoring Albert's wishes, his body has been cremated and a memorial service will be held at a later date with burial in Memory Gardens Cemetery.
