Alice Robertson

Alice N. Robertson, age 85, a life-long Barton County resident, passed away Tuesday, April 5, 2011 at Maple Assisted Living Center in Nevada.     Alice was born January 4, 1926 at the family farm in the Bushnell community, the fifth of the six children of Charles and Mamie (Marlatt) Duncan.  After graduating from Lamar High School in 1944, she attended college and worked as a bookkeeper for the Mound Hatchery in Springfield. On May 11, 1946, at Girard, Kansas, she married Eugene Robertson. They made their home and raised their family in the Cherry Grove community northeast of Lamar, farming for more than 60 years.  Alice was baptized at the Milford Christian Church and had also attended Hopewell Presbyterian Church.  In addition to being a farmwife, homemaker, and wonderful cook, Alice was a talented quilter, weaver, and rug maker. She will be remembered for her hospitality and attention to the needs of others. Alice was an avid gardener and enjoyed growing flowers.  She was member of the Antique Engine Club, The Wagon Club and WPFA Club.          Survivors include two sons and their wives, Jerry & Vivian Robertson, Carl Junction, and Gregg & Lana Robertson, Liberal; a daughter-in-law, Nancy Robertson, Lamar; two brothers, Glen Duncan, Lamar and Orville Duncan, Golden City; two sisters-in-law,  Lois Duncan, Lamar and Viola Duncan, Golden City; nine grandchildren, Bryce & Kristin Robertson, Kirk & Haley Robertson, Beckie & Nathan Maberry, Beth & David Guinn, Tana Eagon, Rocky Eagon, Kim & Dean McDaniels, Ashley Phillips & Jarron Ritchie; eighteen great-grandchildren; and a great-great-grandson.       Alice was preceded in death by her parents; her husband Eugene in 2007; a son, Stanley Robertson in 2005; two brothers, Ralph and Bob Duncan; a sister, Esther Wilhelm; two sisters-in-law, Reba Duncan and Wanda Duncan; a grandson, Troy Horine.      Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Friday, April 8th at Daniel Funeral Home where the family will receive friends from 1:00 until 2:00 p.m. Friday.  Burial will be in Lake Cemetery.       Memorial contributions are suggested to the Barton County Memorial Hospital Music Therapy Program in care of Daniel Funeral Home.
