Audrey Woods

Audrey Marie Woods passed away Wednesday, December 7, 2011 at her home in Lamar, Missouri at the age of 82.      Audrey was born March 5, 1929 in Barton County to Arthur and Elma (Gonterman) Metcalf.  They preceded her in death along with her three brothers and their wives, Richard "Dick" and Betty Metcalf, Clarence and Joyce Metcalf, and Francis (Shorty) and Wilma Metcalf.      Survivors include her husband of 58 years, Bill Woods of the home; two daughters and their husbands, Glenna & Brian Yike and Tina & Gene Dearing all of Liberal; a son, Bill Woods, Lamar; seven grandchildren, Tarrah & husband Chad Moore, Bo Dearing, Brock Dearing, Danielle Hukill, Brent Woods, Brooke Woods, and Drew Woods; seven great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.      After graduating from Lamar High School in 1947, Audrey worked at a grocery store in Irwin, Missouri.  On October 4, 1953, at Lamar United Methodist Church she married Bill B. Woods.  When they had their children, she stayed home to care for them.  When the kids started school, Audrey began her career with the Lamar R1 School, working in the cafeteria until retirement.  She was an active member of Iantha United Methodist Church until ill heath made her unable to attend.  Audrey was a good wife, Mom and Granny and will be greatly missed.      Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Sunday, December 11th at Daniel Funeral Home with burial in Nashville Cemetery.      Memorial contributions are suggested to Iantha United Methodist Church in care of the funeral home.
