Beth Pope

Beth Lavon Pope, age 88, of Lamar, MO, passed away Thursday, January 3, 2013 at Barton County Memorial Hospital.      Beth was born March 21, 1924 at Elwood, Nebraska, to Richard and Esther (Prather) Stewart and grew up in Kearney, Nebraska.  She met Glenn Pope and they married March 8, 1941.  Two sons and one daughter were born to this union.  They lived and farmed near Dix, Nebraska until 1953 when they moved to Lamar.  They continued to farm and raise cattle until retirement.  Beth was an avid bowler and enjoyed participating in the Housewives League for many years.  She was a member of Milford Christian Church.      Glenn and Beth had shared 54 years of marriage before Glenn's death March 27, 1995.  Beth was also preceded in death by her parents; four sisters; two sons, Thomas Glenn Pope and James Stewart Pope; and a great-grandson, Austin Pope.      Survivors include a daughter and son-in-law, Sandra Kay & Reid Alexander of Lamar, MO; five grandchildren, Chi-Chi Steele, LaRussell, MO, Cesare Kleeman, Miller, MO, Collin Pope, Lamar, MO, Dustin Pope, Chesterfield, SC,  and Missie Rundle, Delta, CO; eleven great-grandchildren, Landon & Austin Steele, Kaul & Joel Kleeman, Cheyanne Pope, Ali and Jacob Pope, Jamie Pope, and Leilani, Eli and Ayrihanna Rundle.      A graveside funeral service will be held at 10:00 a.m. Monday, January 7th at Memory Gardens Cemetery.      The family will receive friends from 6:00 until 7:00 p.m. Sunday at Daniel Funeral Home.      Memorial contributions are suggested to St. Jude Children's Hospital or American Heart Association in care of the funeral home.
