Betty Jane Percy, age 87, of rural Lamar, died Monday September 24, 2012 at Good Shepherd Nursing Home in Lockwood, MO.
Betty was born May 9, 1925 at Hartford, KS to Bill and Martha (Kramer) Balster. In addition to being a devoted homemaker and mother of ten children, Betty had worked at Big Smith, O'Sullivan Industries, and Thorco, retiring in 1987. She enjoyed gardening and crocheting, was a 4-H leader, and loved her many grandchildren.
Survivors include six sons, Donald (Lynda) McNamee of Raymond, MS, Bill (Corinne) McNamee of Tacoma, WA, Danny McNamee of Middlebury, FL, Doug (Jan) Lucas of Jasper, MO, Larry Lucas of Lamar, MO, Glenn (Karolyn) Tinkey of Lamar, MO; four daughters, Susie (Jim) Rennick of Ellsinore, MO, Patty (Larry) Ball of Lamar, MO, Kay (John) Wartick of Wilburton, OK, and Fay (Greg) Long of Nevada, MO; 22 grandchildren; six step-grandchildren; 21 great grandchildren; 19 step-great grandchildren; one step-great-great grandchild; a brother-in-law, E.T. Lewis of Pensacola, FL; two sisters-in-law, Marcene Balster of Reeds, MO and Rosie Balster of Jasper; and her second husband, W.L. Lucas, Jr. of Muskogee, OK.
Preceding her in death were her parents; three husbands, Wayne McNamee, Charles Tinkey, and Ernest Percy; three brothers, Donald Shumaker, Cecil Balster, and Frank Balster; three sisters, Florence Shumaker, Julia Lewis, and Katherine Thomas; a grandson, Jason Lucas; a great granddaughter, Leslie Dawn Ball.
A graveside funeral service will be 1:00 pm Thursday, September 27, 2012 at Mt. Carmel Cemetery, west of Golden City, MO.
The family will receive friends 6:00 to 7:00 pm Wednesday at Daniel Funeral Home.
