Betty Jo Hartsuiker

r   Betty Jo Hartsuiker, age 88, of Lamar, died Saturday, October 31, 2009, at Truman Healthcare Center.  Betty was born April 7, 1921 in Ottawa County Oklahoma to Charles H. and Nell O. (Harrington) McCoy.   On February 22, 1940, she married Klaas Hartsuiker at Yuma, AZ. Together they had two sons, Michael Dean Hartsuiker, Richard and wife Marion Hartsuiker, Joplin; two daughters, Mildred “Micki” and husband Sterling Martin, Lamar, and Sherril Fortner, Milford.  Additional survivors include one brother, John McCoy, West Valley City, Utah, nine grandchildren, and 24 great grandchildren and 4 great great-grandchildren.   Betty was a homemaker and worked as a Deputy Sherriff in Pipestone County, MN.  In March 1968, Betty and Klass moved to the Milford area and she worked at the Lamar Hotel, and later went to work for O’Sullivan Industries.  She attended the Milford Christian Church.   Betty was preceded in death by her parents, two brother, two sisters, husband Klaas December 7, 1993, one infant son, Michael Dean Hartsuiker, one granddaughter, Klaashia Blanchard and one great-grandson, Dakota Blanchard.   Graveside services will be held at 2:00 pm Sunday November 8, 2009 at the Martin Family Cemetery.  Jason Schnieder will officiate.  Arrangements are under the direction of Daniel Funeral Home.
