Betty Fern Schorzman, age 80, of Jasper, passed away Friday, September 7, 2012 at Truman Healthcare Center in Lamar following a long illness.
Betty was born April 20, 1932 at Goodland, Kansas, the youngest of the three children of Milton and Macy (Hart) Maring. On November 21, 1948 at Lamar, Betty married Ruben Schorzman and they had shared more than 63 years together before his death May 23, 2012. She was also preceded in death by her parents; her brother, Max Maring; and her sister, Madge Birt.
Survivors include two daughters and their husbands, Janet & Tony Neher, Jasper, and Maryland & Doug McKinney, Paulden, Arizona; four grandchildren, Travis Neher of Jasper, Brian Neher of Miller, Nathan Rice of Carl Junction, and Macy Rice of Paulden; 13 great-grandchildren, Keaton Page LaMaster, Destiny Rice, Matthew Neher, Sarah & April Tilley, Ryleigh & Drake McMullen, Dallas & Austin Strickland, Lisa, Katelyn, Gracie and Corie; and one great-great-grandchild, Harmony Rice.
In addition to being a homemaker, Betty had worked as a dishwasher for the Jasper R-5 Schools and Maplewood Nursing Home for several years. She was a member of the T.W. Club and Jasper Christian Church. Betty was a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother whose greatest pleasures came from spending time with family and friends.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Friday, September 14th at Daniel Funeral Home where the family will receive friends from 10:00 a.m. Friday until service time. Burial will be in Memory Gardens Cemetery in Lamar.
