Betty J. Selvey, age 75, of rural Liberal,
passed away Thursday, November 19, 2009, at her home.
Betty was born January 2, 1934, in Irwin, Missouri,
one of the six children of Ted and Ruby (Little) Clements. She graduated from Lamar High School
in 1952. On January 3, 1954, in Lamar,
Betty married Bob Selvey, and they have been long-time Barton County
farmers. Betty also served as Tax
Collector for Ozark
Township for many years. In addition to being a devoted wife, mother
and grandmother, Betty was a wonderful cook and an accomplished quilter. She was an active member of Hannon Free Will
Baptist Church.
Survivors include her husband of 55 years,
Bob, of the home; two daughters and their husbands, Brenda & Stan Bunch of
Panama, and Sandy & Allen Smith, Kansas City, Missouri; three brothers and
their wives, Don & Emily Clements, Loyd & Beverly Clements, and Bill
& Sue Clements, all of Lamar; a sister, Thelma & husband Don Selvey,
Lamar; a sister-in-law, Dixie Clements, Lamar; five grandchildren, Jonathan
& wife Amanda Bunch, Rachel Smith, Alicia Bunch, Brandon & wife Mandy
Smith, and Amanda Bunch; two great-grandchildren, James and Katie Smith; and a
large extended family. She was preceded
in death by her parents and a brother, Roy Clements.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m.
Monday, November 23rd, at Hannon Free Will Baptist Church. Burial will be in Lake Cemetery
in Lamar.
The family will receive friends from 5
until 7 p.m. Sunday at Daniel Funeral Home.
