Calvin R. Wilson, age 87, of Kansas City, Missouri passed away at 8:30 a.m. on Monday, July 2, 2012 at Centerpoint Medical Center, Independence, MO.
Calvin was born to Joseph and Catherine Wilson on June 23, 1925 in Barton County, Missouri. He attended East High School in Kansas City, Missouri before entering the U.S. Army. Calvin was awarded a Bronze Star and a Purple Heart for his service with the 36th Infantry during World War II. He was a Master Mason for more than 60 years. Calvin retired from Kansas City Water Pollution Control.
On January 19, 1946, Calvin married Nelma (Dockery) Wilson of Kansas City, Missouri and she survives of the home. Also surviving is a daughter Linda King of Lamar, Missouri, a son and daughter-in-law Darren and Janet Wilson of Granbury, Texas; three step-grandchildren; and eight step-great-grandchildren. Calvin was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, William Wilson and J.B. Wilson; two sisters, Lucille Semstead and Lorrine Smith; and a son-in-law, Carl R. King.
Funeral services will be held at Daniel Funeral Home, Lamar, Missouri on Saturday, July 7 at 10:00 a.m. Burial with full military honors will be at St. James Cemetery north of Milford.
A Masonic service will be held at the funeral home at 6:00 p.m. on Friday, July 6. Visitation to follow until 7:30 p.m.
