Carl W. Obert

Carl William Obert, age 78, of Lamar, passed away Thursday, February 5, 2009, at Truman Healthcare Center.        Carl was born June 7, 1930, at Lockwood, Missouri, to Carl Sr. and Jessie (Offutt) Obert.  He was a life-long area resident who farmed in Dade County for many years.  He was baptized at Stoney Point Assembly of God Church in Sylvania.        On January 30, 1958, at Miami, Oklahoma, Carl married Viola J. Ladwig and she survives, of the home.  Also surviving are five sons, David Obert, Eureka, California, Larry & wife Lauretta Obert, Lamar, Jackie Obert, Nevada, Missouri, Carl Lee Obert, Oklahoma, and Howard Paul Obert, Jasper, Arkansas; three daughters, Vickie Bartlett and Janet Obert, both of Lamar, and Susan Obert, Oklahoma; 16 grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.  He was preceded in death by his parents and three brothers, Ivan, Clifford and Calvin Obert.        Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Monday at Daniel Funeral Home where the family will receive friends from 6:00 pm until 7:00 pm Sunday.  Burial will be in Collins Cemetery, near Lockwood, Missouri.        Memorial contributions are suggested to the American Cancer Society in care of Daniel Funeral Home.
