Charles M. Schlichting, age 71, of Jasper, Missouri passed away June 29, 2023.
Charles was born January 8, 1952 in rural Jasper County to Reynold Adolph Schlichting and Naoma Irene (Atkinson) Schlichting. Charles graduated from Lamar High School in the class of 1970. On May 5, 1973, Charles married Rebecca Ann Neibrook in Carthage, Missouri.
Charles worked as a mechanic for the Lamar R-1 school district for over 20 years. He also raised cattle and was a row crop farmer. After he retired, he expanded his farm. He was an avid deer hunter and enjoyed antique tractor pulling and even won a tractor pull with his "Oliver Tractor". He loved spoiling his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He was a former member of the Jasper city council, a volunteer with the Jasper fire department and sat on the district board of the Jasper Fire Protection.
Survivors include his wife of 50 years, Rebecca; two sons, Matthew (Jana) Schlichting of Lamar, and Michael (Katie) Schlichting of Jasper; four grandchildren, Michaela (Klayton) Richardson, and Andrew Schlichting, of Jasper and Megan Schlichting and Dalton Schlichting, both of Lamar; six great-grandchildren, Rolland, Kyrra, Jazzmyne, Preston, Wyatt and Ember; two brothers, Steve (Sharon) Schlichting of Shell City and Doug (Elaine) Schlichting of Lamar, along with several nieces and nephews.
Charles was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Robert Schlichting.
Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m., Saturday, July 1, 2023 at Daniel Funeral Home with a private family burial to be held at Paradise Cemetery at a later date.
The family will receive friends from 5:00 to 7:00 pm, Friday, June 30, 2023 at the funeral home.
