Charles Edward Sprenkle, age 76,
of Lamar, passed away Tuesday, November 17, 2009, at his home.
Charles was born December 27, 1932, near Neosho, the youngest of the eleven children of Charles
and Hazel (Thomas) Sprenkle. He was
preceded in death by his parents; five brothers; and five sisters.
At the age of 17, Charles enlisted in the
U.S. Navy and was a Korean War veteran. On September 28, 1957, at the Boston Methodist
Church, he married Merle Haile and
they made their home and farmed in the Boston
area. In addition to farming, Charles
was a cattleman and an A.I. Technician for many years. He was an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed
hunting deer and turkey. Charles was a
Past Master of Lamar Masonic Lodge #292 and Jasper Masonic Lodge #398; a member
of Mt. Hope Chapter #74 Order of Eastern Star, Lamar, and Jasper V.F.W. Post
#6415. He attended Jasper United
Methodist Church.
Survivors include his wife of 52 years,
Merle, of the home; a son and daughter-in-law, Harold and Brenda Sprenkle, Jasper,
Missouri: a daughter, Ann Martinez, Springfield, Missouri; two grandchildren;
three great-grandchildren; and a large extended family.
Funeral services will be held at 10:00
a.m. Saturday, November 21st, at Daniel Funeral Home. The family will receive
friends following a Masonic service that will begin at 7:00 p.m. Friday. Burial will be in Mt. Carmel Cemetery with graveside military honors
conducted by Jasper V.F.W. Post #6415.
