Charles Wayne Oglesby

Charles Wayne Oglesby, age 83, of Lamar, passed away Thursday, July 19, 2012 at Barton County Memorial Hospital.      Wayne was born April 13, 1929 near Kenoma, Missouri, the only child of Wilby and Cora (Cole) Oglesby.  His natural ability as a mechanic was fostered by his father throughout his childhood and it proved to be a legacy that continues through his sons.  As a young man, Wayne worked for the Missouri Highway Department, Lawn Boy, and Medlin Ford Garage for several years before founding Oglesby Trucking.  Over the nearly 60 years of his trucking career, he logged millions of safe miles and hauled gravel for major projects such as the building of Stockton Lake, Silver Dollar City, and Whiteman Air Force Base.  When he wasn't "at home behind the wheel" Wayne was at home with his family, where he enjoyed working on trucks and cars or doing a little fishing.  With his family at his side, Wayne recently gave his life to Christ.      On August 28, 1948 at Lamar, Wayne married the love of his life, Joan Dean Snook and she survives of the home.  Also surviving are four sons and their wives, Randy & Donna Oglesby, Terry Oglesby, Jeff & Marvana Oglesby, all of Lamar, and Kevin & Stacey Oglesby of Lockwood; a daughter, Lisa Oglesby of Lamar; a daughter-in-law, Phyllis Oglesby, Lamar; six grandchildren, Dillan, Kathleen, Rachel, Shelby, Keaton and Crystal; and a great-granddaughter, Maurianna.  He was preceded in death by his parents, Wilby & Cora; his oldest son, Chris Oglesby; two granddaughters, Emily Oglesby and Colbey Oglesby.      Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Monday, July 23rd at Daniel Funeral Home with Rev. Clyde Hendricks officiating.  Those serving as pallbearers include Randy, Terry, Jeff, Kevin and Keaton Oglesby,  Gailand Johnston, Mike Orahood and Dan Werner.  Burial will be in Lake Cemetery.      The family will receive friends from 6:00 until 7:00 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.      Memorial contributions are suggested to the Oglesby Family in care of Daniel Funeral Home.
