Clifton Clyde “Bubba” Cheshire, 58, of Lamar, MO passed away as a result of a heart attack at his mother’s home on Friday December 23rd, 2011 at 6:30pm.
Clifton was born September 22, 1953 in Houston, TX to Sallie (Adams) Cheshire and Clifton Clyde Cheshire Sr. He grew up in Texas until 1969 when the family relocated to Milford, MO. He attended Lamar High School and was active in FFA, winning a trophy at a state FFA competition. He worked on the family farm with his father and later for Carl Arft. He later worked for Bill Gardner learning carpentry. He worked for a time for Gerald Shaver having learned to weld from his father. Clifton welded on and helped to build Grace Christian Assembly pastored by John Dille. In 1974 he married Susan Hensley. They had four children together. In 1977 they moved to Canada and later settled in Minnesota. Clifton later married again and had 3 more children. He moved back to Lamar in 2000.
Clifton lived life with vigor. He was a charismatic man and was hard to forget. He was a man of many talents who excelled at all he applied himself to. He was a hard worker and more than once left us at a loss for words at what he could accomplish in the face of pain and exhaustion. He could be counted on in an emergency. He enjoyed reading and was a store house of information finding memorization almost second nature. He was always studying and had made progress in learning the Hebrew language. He loved to sing and to play the accordion and passed his love of music on to his children and grandchildren. He knew how to make a mess in the kitchen and how to clean it up. Often after dinner at his mother’s he could be heard around the kitchen as he sang and loudly washed the dishes. Everything Clifton did he did 100%. He kept any gathering he attended lively. If he was there you knew it. He had a soft spot for stray cats and dogs and an understanding for others who were down and out. He loved a good movie and a good football game. It was just as entertaining to watch him as it was to watch the show. He loved to laugh and to tell stories. Clifton loved and was proud of all his children and did all he could to help his mother when he would visit her.
Clifton was a picture of God’s grace since his relationship with Christ started in his young adult life. Over the years he would stray from the path-but he would always come back to the Truth. Romans 10:13 for “Everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved”.
