Connie Ann Murrey, age 68, of Liberal, passed away, Wednesday, August 25, 2010 at Via Christi Village in Pittsburg, Kansas, where she had been a resident since January.
Connie was born October 9, 1941 at Lamar to Clifford and Ethel (Mallory) Thatcher. In 1958, at Overbrook, Kansas, she married Herbert Waring and they had two sons, Herb, Jr. and Wayne, and a daughter, Julie. They later divorced and, on August 25, 1993, she married George Murrey, who preceded her in death November 29, 2009. She was also preceded in death by her parents; and three brothers, Cliff “Junior” Thatcher, Arlo “Bud” Thatcher, and George Thatcher.
Living in Barton County most of her life, Connie had worked at O’Sullivan Industries in Lamar and Peerless Products in Fort Scott, Kansas. She also owned and operated Connie’s Place in Liberal for several years. She was a member of Liberal Christian Church.
Survivors include two sons, Herb Waring Jr., of Joplin and Wayne Waring of Liberal; a daughter and son-in-law, Julie & Scott Parker of Lamar; a sister, Lucille Minnix of Oronogo, Missouri; six grandchildren, Ashley and Derek Parker, Charity Burchett, Chris, Austin and Lane Waring; and two great-grandchildren, Coby and Cooper Burchett.
Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, August 28th at Daniel Funeral Home where the family will receive friends from 6:00 until 7:00 p.m. Friday. Burial will be in Liberal Cemetery.
