Curtis L. “Jack” Tanner, age 88, of Lamar,
passed away Wednesday, October 7, 2009, at Barton County
Memorial Hospital.
Jack was born March 23, 1921, in Lamar, to
Elmer and Eva (Rice) Tanner. After
graduating from Lamar
High School in 1939 he
joined the U.S. Army and served in the 203rd “Houndawg” Unit during
World War II. Returning home after the
war, Jack began his life-long career in construction, developing new
neighborhoods and building many of the homes in the north part of Lamar.
On June 4, 1959, Jack married Marianna
Springer-Wilson, and she survives, of the home.
Also surviving are a son, Steve Tanner, Lamar; two daughters, Candace
& husband James Allen, Destin, Florida and Lucinda Howard, Dallas, Texas;
and three grandchildren, Shaun, Joel, and Tiffany. He was preceded in death by a sister, Jean
Brinkerhoff.
Funeral services will be held at 3:00 p.m.
Saturday, October 10th at Daniel Funeral Home. Burial will be in Lake Cemetery
with graveside military honors conducted by V.F.W. Post 3691.
