Darrell Dean Robertson, 76, of Lamar, Missouri went to be with the Lord October 14, 2010. In his many years of battling cancer, he encouraged and inspired others with his courage and faith.
Darrell was born February 4, 1934 to Luther and Norma (Cates) Robertson in Douglas County, Missouri. The family moved from Ava to Lamar, Missouri in 1947. Darrell graduated from Lamar High School in 1952 and the University of Missouri in Columbia with a B.S. in Agriculture in 1956.
Darrell met Barbara in Dallas, Texas. They married on June 8, 1957 in Lamar, Missouri and immediately left for Ft. Lewis, Washington where Darrell was to start active duty with the U.S. Army. In 1959, they returned to Lamar, making their home, starting their business and raising their family. They enjoyed many years in the dairy business and enjoyed fellowship with customers through the Dairy Store in Lamar. Years later, people shared with them their favorite ice cream flavor and wished they could have it again. What a pleasure that gave to Darrell and Barbara!
Darrell loved to travel with Barbara in their R.V. He found people and world events so interesting. They traveled coast to coast, Mexico, Canada and through Alaska. Darrell would run into people he knew through his travels with the Holstein Association.
His coffee group was a must! It allowed him to keep up with the local events of the day and see friends. Next to his family and church, he loved Lamar and its people. He wanted to see it prosper.
