It is with bittersweet thoughts that we announce the death of a very special man in our lives. Dean William Main, age 77, born at Mt. Carmel in Pittsburg, KS, on July 21, 1935, went to be with the Lord on November 4, 2012. Dean fought the good fight against cancer until the bitter end, and finally won the battle when he went to heaven for complete healing.
Dean was a wonderful husband, father, brother, and grandfather, amongst everyone he was a cousin or uncle to. He had a deep relationship with Jesus Christ, and always used the outdoors to have those talks with the Lord. He loved taking walks around the neighborhood, as well as going to the Lamar Park for his walks after he retired from working 32 years at O’Sullivans, in January of 2001. Although we will miss him dearly, and our hearts are heavy, we know that he is where he belongs now, and we look forward to the sweet reunion we will have some day with him.
Dean graduated from Lamar High School in 1953, and was married to LaVonne Dorene Persons, on June 3, 1961, in Garvin, MN., and they celebrated 51 years together this year. Dean was also Baptized as a youth, and was a member of the Lamar First Baptist Church.
Dean William Main was the son of Lloyd and Velma (Berry) Main. He was preceded in death by his grandparents who raised him (George and Myrtle Berry), his mother, who passed away when Dean was only 7 days old in 1935, his father, who passed away in 1964, his step-mother (Marjorie Main Faulkner), who passed away in 2009, and a son-in-law (Michael Kannady), who passed away in 1998.
Survivors include his wife (LaVonne) of the home, a son (Mark) from Lincoln, NE., and his wife (Julie) and four children (Erin, Ashley, Allison, Alex), a daughter (Marla Kannady Foreman) from Nevada, MO., and her husband (Chet), and one child (Regan Kannady), a daughter (Lynette Brous) from Lamar, MO., and her husband (Trevin), and one child (Gage). He is also survived by a half-sister (Marilyn Moore), and her husband (John), and two children (Julie, Jeff), a half brother (Tom Main), and his wife (Gale), and two children (Doug, Melissa), and a half brother (Mike Main), and his wife (Dianne), and three children (Mallory, Brandon, Brian).

Visitation will be 7:00 to 8:00 pm Tuesday November 6, 2012.
