Dennis Raymond Wingert

Dennis Raymond Wingert, age 57, of Golden City, Missouri, passed away on January 9, 2025, at Mercy Hospital in Joplin, Missouri.

Dennis was born February 28, 1967, in Lamar, Missouri, to Reginald and Kathryn (Hassing) Wingert. He graduated from Golden City High School in 1985. On April 14, 2017, Dennis was united in marriage to Lisa Jean Williams.

Dennis spent his youth growing up and working on his family’s farm northwest of Golden City with his mom, dad, seven brothers, and four sisters. After graduating, Dennis worked for Stefan Farms in Golden City for a time before venturing out and becoming an owner and operator of his own truck, leasing to Cross Trucking.

Although Dennis never had any children of his own, he was a great dad. He always made sure any kids that came into his life knew that he loved them and that love was forever. Growing up in such a large, loving family made spending time with those he cared about of utmost importance. Dennis loved spending time with his wife, Lisa, his kids, and, most of all, his grandkids. He loved being a Papa.

Dennis never outgrew his love for tractors and farm life. He was an avid collector of diecast John Deere tractors, even winning medals for some in his collection. One of his favorite things to do was to go to his family’s farm and ride around on his John Deere Gator, then come home and watch one of his favorite shows, The Golden Girls.

Dennis is survived by his wife, Lisa of Golden City, MO; three daughters, Kendra (Neal) Robbins of Joplin, MO, Chelsea (Dakota) Greenlee of Golden City, MO, and Maya Williams of Fort Lauderdale, FL; two sons, Brett (Brittany) Simmons of Willard, MO, and Ryan Gartman of Lamar, MO; nine grandchildren, Bailey, Blakely, Barrett, John, Ryson, Liam, Finn, Charlotte, Ryker, and Brexlee; four brothers, Tom (Pam) Wingert of Lamar, MO, Robert (Sharon) Wingert, John (Paula) Wingert, and Charlie (Karen) Wingert, all of Golden City, MO; four sisters, Mary (Pat) Conway of Saint Joseph, MO, Ruth (Rick) Rice of Lamar, MO, Rita (Tim) Lehman of Girard, KS, and Charlotte (Bill) Scott of Golden City, MO; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

Dennis was preceded in death by his parents, Reginald and Kathryn; three brothers, James Wingert, Ed Wingert, and Gene Wingert; one brother-in-law, Richard Taft; two sisters-in- law, Joyce Wingert and Donna Wingert; two nieces, Amy Schenck and Kristull Wingert; one great-nephew, Tucker Wingert; and one great-niece, Hallie Beard

A funeral service will be held at 10:00 a.m., Tuesday, January 14, 2025, at Daniel Funeral Home with burial to follow in I.O.O.F. Cemetery in Golden City, MO.
