Derek Seth Watson

Derek Seth Watson, age 24, of Lamar, passed away Friday, February 4, 2011 at his home following a sudden illness.      Derek was born December 17, 1986 at Lamar to Randy and Lori (Burns) Watson.  He graduated from Lamar High School in 2005 and had worked for Standley Milling.  He was a member of First Assembly of God Church.  Derek was a motorcycle enthusiast who enjoyed football and was an avid Raiders fan.      On December 29, 2009, Derek married Renea Nicole Griffitt and she survives, of the home.  Also surviving are four children, Kaden and Terrin McDowell and  Madison and Jordyn Watson, all of the home; his mother, Lori Watson, his father and step-mother, Randy & Patty Watson, a sister, Chelsea Watson, maternal grandparents, Barbara & Larry Smith, paternal grandparents, Roy & Charlotte Watson and Deloris & Don Dawe,  his great-grandmother, Lucille Masterson, all of Lamar; and a large extended family.  Derek was preceded in death by his great-grandfather, Ray Masterson and his maternal grandfather, David Burns.      Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. Tuesday, February 8th at First Assembly of God of Lamar with Rev. Andy Boswell officiating.  Burial will be in Memory Gardens Cemetery.      The family will receive friends from 6:00 until 7:00 p.m. Monday at Daniel Funeral Home.      Memorial contributions are suggested to First Assembly of God of Lamar.
