Donald Rogers, Sr.

Donald Lee Rogers, Sr. age 78, of Lamar, passed away Friday, January 11, 2013 at Barton County Memorial Hospital.      Donald was born August 29, 1934, one of the nine children of C.V. and Naomi (Ashburn) Rogers.  He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, Eldon Virgil Rogers and Robert Rogers.      Donald had been married to Hazel Marie Lowe for thirteen years and to this union six children were born.  Donald worked in truck transport and heavy equipment for Frank Horton while living in Lamar.  He had also owned and operated a bar in Eldon, Missouri for many years. He moved back to Lamar from  Barnett, Missouri in 2009 to be near family.      Survivors include a son, Donald Lee Rogers, Jr. of Lamar; five daughters, Mary Kay (Don) White, Wilma Jo (Kenneth) Puckett, and Pamela D'Ann (Ronnie, Jr.) Slater all of Lamar, Tracy Lynn (Charles) Kennedy, Joplin, and Connie Marie Smith, Nevada; a brother, Dean Rogers, Vivian, Louisiana; five sisters, Goldie Myers, Pontiac, Michigan, Cora Rogers, Erie, Kansas, Eva Boyd and Sharon Irwin both of Independence, Missouri, and Paula Yeager, Lamar; ten grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; and a large extended family.      Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. Monday at Daniel Funeral Home where the family will receive friends from noon until service time.  Burial will be in Nigh Cemetery northeast of Lamar.
