Donna J. Betz

Donna Jean Betz, age 81, of Lamar, passed away Tuesday, July 26, 2011 at Barton County Memorial Hospital.      Donna was born October 2, 1929 at Milford, Missouri, to Roy and Ayleen (Bratton) Thomas.  She attended Golden City High School before moving with her family to Nevada where she graduated with the Nevada class of 1947.  Donna had worked as a draftsman for Finley Engineering in Lamar for more than 20 years and was a field engineer for several telecommunications companies before retiring in 1997.  She was a league bowler and enjoyed camping and boating.  Donna’s greatest pleasure, however, was her family, and she especially enjoyed following the sporting events of her grandchildren.  She was a member of First Christian Church of Lamar.      Donna married Glen Edward Betz who preceded her in death April 13, 1986.  She was also preceded in death by her parents and a sister, Mavoureen Gallagher.      Survivors include a son and daughter-in-law, Terry & Gabi Ryan, Grove, Oklahoma; a daughter and son-in-law, Kathy & Kyle Berry, Lamar; a niece, Christy Divine, Golden City;  six grandchildren, Aimee O’Sullivan, Amber Nance, Autumn Timmons, Ali Storm, Kevin Ryan and Kelly Stockton; 17 great-grandchildren.      A graveside funeral service will be held at 10:00 a.m. Friday, July 29th at Memory Gardens Cemetery with Pastor Mike Winkle officiating.      The family will receive friends from 7:00 until 8:00 p.m. Thursday at Daniel Funeral Home.
