Erma Lee Jordan, age 80, of Lamar, passed
away Thursday, March 4, 2010, at her home.
Erma Lee was born July 29, 1929, to
Willard Lee and Norena (Bowman) Coles. A lifelong Barton
County resident, Erma attended grade school
in the Boston community and graduated from Lamar High
School in 1947.
She began her 27 year career at O’Sullivan Industries in 1967 and retired
in 1994.
Erma Lee was married to Venson Jordan for 17
years and they remained close friends until his death in 2006. She was devoted to her children, Judy and
Randy, and was passionate about dogs, especially her 15-year companion,
Suzy-Woo. Erma Lee fell ill with West
Nile in 2006, but, with Judy’s help she was able to reside at her home, attend services
at Grace Lutheran Church,
and enjoy lunches with friends. A dear
family friend, Jamey Smith and her children, Samantha and Brice, also
brightened many days for Erma Lee, sitting with her while Judy was at work.
Erma Lee is survived by a daughter, Judy
Kay Jordan of the home. She was preceded
in death by her parents; her son, Mark Randall “Randy” Jordan in 1998; and her
beloved puppy, Suzy-Woo in 2009. .
A graveside committal service was held at
2:00 p.m. Friday in I.O.O.F. Cemetery in Golden City
with Ron Bean, Danny Engelage, Dean Owen, Phil Haubein, Clint Engelage, and
Buddy Probert serving as pallbearers. A
memorial service will be held at 3:00 p.m. Saturday at Grace Lutheran
Church with Rev. Galen
Fredrichs officiating.
