Evalee B. McCoy, age 96, of Lamar, passed
away Wednesday, March 11, 2009,
at Barton County
Memorial Hospital.
Evalee was born October 5, 1912, in Harrison
County, Missouri, to Willard
and Ida (Nighthart) Bolar. On December 31, 1933, in Bethany,
Missouri, she married Archie C. McCoy and
they owned and operated McCoy’s Platte County Cleaners in Parkville,
Missouri for many years. Evalee was a
devoted wife, loving mother, and wonderful homemaker. While living in Parkville,
she was active in Narcissus Chapter 191, Order of the Eastern Star and was a
past Worthy Matron. Retiring in 1968,
Evalee and Archie lived on the lake at Bull Shoals for several years, and then
traveled to south Texas, where
they lived until moving to Lamar in 1990 to be near family.
Evalee and Archie had celebrated 71 years
together before his death August 30,
2005. She was also preceded
in death by a brother, Avery Bolar and a sister, Dorothy Thompson.
Survivors include a daughter and son-in-law,
Janet & Jim Byington, Chesterfield, Missouri;
a son and daughter-in-law, Jim & Wanda McCoy, Lamar; seven grandchildren;
16 great-grandchildren; and a great-great-grandson.
A celebration of life and committal
service will be held at a later date at Koger
Cemetery in New Hampton,
Missouri. Arrangements are under the
direction of Daniel Funeral Home in Lamar.
