Everett Lee Harris, age 70, of Lamar died Thursday, November 1, 2012 at Barton County Memorial Hospital.
Everett was born August 24, 1942 in Lamar to Jessie Earl and Olive Leona (Hall) Harris. He was a High School Graduate and served his country in the United States Marine Corps from 1961 until 1982. On July 8, 1966 he married Betty Darlene Young at Oklahoma City, OK and together they raised four children. After retiring from the Marine Corps, he went to work for the United States Postal Service in Lamar for 22 years. Everett liked to spend time with his family and friends. In the past he had enjoyed camping, fishing and gardening, but his greatest pride was his granddaughters and great grandson.
In addition to his wife of 46 years, he is survived by three sons, Jessie Lee Harris of Lamar, Jerry Lynn Harris of Pine Bluff, AR, and Jeffery Lyle Harris of Golden City, MO; one daughter, Carolyn & Howard Adams of Springfield, MO; two brothers, Cecil Harris of Lamar and his son Rick Harris of South Carolina, and Robert & Sandra Harris of Lamar and their children, Lesly Ann O'Dell of Oklahoma and Andrew Harris of Louisiana; one sister, Reta Mae Guthrie of El Dorado Springs, MO and her children Eldy of Arkansas, Tammy of Stockton, MO, and Chuck of Jerico Springs, MO; five grand children, Jordan Adams of Springfield, MO, Megan & Caitlyn Harris of Pine Bluff, AR, Jessica & Kamala Harris of Cassville, MO; one great grandson, Nathaniel Aidan Violante of Springfield, MO; brother and sister-in-laws, Ben & Frances Young and their children Beth and Jon, Dennis & Karen Young, Leota Young and children Roxanna and Alan, Harry and Sandra Young and children, Trent & Stacy, Bill & Retta Cooprider and their children David, Marie & Earl, Oscar & Mary Stuart and their children Diane, Debra, Travis, and Jr.
Everett was preceded in death by his parents; an infant brother, Ronald Eugene Harris; an infant sister, Zella Ruth Harris, his father-in-law and mother-in-law, Dennis & Ruby Young; three brothers-in-law, Bill Guthrie, Floyd Stuart and Franklin Stuart; a niece, Robin Stuart; and a great-nephew, Justin McCollum.
Memorial service will be 2:00 pm Saturday, November 3, 2012 at Daniel Funeral Home with Full Military Honors.
The family will receive friends 6 to 7 pm Friday, November 2, 2012 in the North Parlor at Daniel Funeral Home.
