Gary Gastel, age 80, of rural Lamar,
passed away early Saturday morning, September 16, 2017, at Truman Healthcare
Center.
Gary was born May 18, 1937, in Lamar to
Leonard and Gladys (Patterson) Gastel.
He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, Larry Wayne,
and Keith Gastel.
Gary graduated Lamar High School in 1955,
and then served his country in the United States Navy. On April 25, 1959 at Lamar, Gary married
Carolyn Gartman, and they made their home, farmed, and raised their four sons
in Barton County.
Survivors include his wife of 58 years,
Carolyn, of the home; four sons, Steve (Ginger) Gastel, Bartlesville, Oklahoma,
Scott Gastel, Lamar, Kent Gastel, Frontenac, Kansas, and Kirk (Kristin) Gastel,
Dallas, Texas; four brothers, Dwight (Kay) Gastel, Golden City, Missouri,
Richard (Ellen) Gastel, Jasper, James (Jeannie) Gastel, Jasper, and Kenny
(Arvilla) Gastel, Rock Island, Illinois; two sisters, Doris (Ray) Little and
Janet (Steve) Diggs, all of Lamar; a sister-in-law, Judy Gastel, Lamar; five
grandchildren, Jeremy (Katie) Gastel, Christopher Gastel, Diahn (Dustin) Hayden,
Zac (Kimber) Gastel and Gavin Gastel; 10 Great-grandchildren, Terin, Taylor,
Oakley, Skyler, Karman, Lily, Waylon, Rayley, Conway, Dalton.
Mass of Christian Burial will be
celebrated at 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, September 20th at St. Mary’s
Catholic Church. Burial will be in St.
Mary’s Cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 6:00
until 8:00 p.m. Tuesday at Daniel Funeral Home.
