George Edward Dunham Jr., age 88, of Lamar, Missouri passed away January 29, 2023.
George was born January 18, 1935 in Long Beach, California to George Edward Dunham Sr. and Mabel Georgia (Jones) Dunham. George married Janice Lynn VanSchaick on March 9, 1962 in Liberty, Missouri.
George graduated from high school in Long Beach, CA and joined the Navy after graduation as a crash fireman. After he got out of the Navy, he worked at the LA Airport (now LAX) as a crash fireman. He later worked as an electrical engineer for Bendix Computer. He also attended Long Beach City College and studied architectural design and computer science. He attended Allied Institute of Technology where he studied Tool and Die Design. After moving to Kansas City, Missouri, he worked as an engineer for Mobil Oil and Occidental Petroleum, owned and operated County Flair Ceramics in Lockwood, Missouri and was facilities engineer at O'Sullivan Industries in Lamar, MO for 18 years. George was a talented artist who liked to draw, paint and do crafts. He loved working on old cars and drew house plans for many of the houses in Lamar and Kansas City.
Survivors include his wife Janice; two sons, Bryan Dunham and wife Andrea of Fort Walton Beach, Florida and Mark Dunham of Lamar, MO; two brothers, Tom Dunham of Lockwood, MO., and Jim Dunham and wife Sharryl of St. Cloud, Florida; and two grandchildren, Bradley Dunham and Debra Jolley.
George was preceded in death by his parents; two sisters, Marilyn Odell Kenny and Marian Waldo; two nieces, Kelly Bateman and Tereasa Odell and a nephew, Loren Odell.
A private family burial will be held.
