Ida Gertrude Bowling, age 89, of Lamar, passed away Friday, November 12, 2010 at Truman Healthcare Center.       Gertrude was born November 6, 1921, in Barton County, Missouri, to Walt and Pearl (Seybold) Williams.  In 1947, she married William Robert Bowling and he preceded her in death December 8, 1961.  Gertrude was also preceded in death by her parents; a sister, Mary Powell; and two brothers, Irwin Williams and Albert Williams.      Rising above the affliction of childhood polio, Gertrude graduated from Lamar High School and was a hard worker all her life.  She had worked in restaurants on the square, the Blue Top Restaurant for 15 years, and managed Golden Glow Laundromat for 20 years. Gertrude had been an active member of First Baptist Church for over 50 years, where she taught Sunday school in earlier years.   She enjoyed the fellowship of family and friends, especially when it included a game of checkers or dominos.       Survivors include a son and daughter-in-law, Gary & Linda Bowling and a daughter and son-in-law, Judy & Tim Abernathy, all of Lamar; a sister, Elsie Griffitt, Lamar; five grandchildren, David Bowling, Kansas City, Missouri, Melissa Bowling, New York City, New York, Dr. Aja Bowling, Louisville, Kentucky, Laron Abernathy and Evan Abernathy, both of Lamar.       Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, November 16th at Daniel Funeral Home where the family will receive friends from 6:00 until 7:00 p.m. Monday.  Burial will be in Lake Cemetery.       Memorial contributions are suggested to First Baptist Church in care of Daniel Funeral Home.
