Hazel L. Yount

Hazel L. Yount, age 87, of Lamar, passed away Wednesday, March 30, 2011 at Truman Healthcare Center.       Hazel was born March 6, 1924, at Avalon, Kentucky; the daughter of James and Oma (Smith) Capp.  She was preceded in death by her parents; a brother, Raymond Capp; three husbands, Harold Spengler, Don Allen and Jerry Yount; and a son, Larry Allen.       As a young military wife, Hazel had lived many places in the U.S. and abroad.  She worked as a waitress in several European cafes and later at Wilder's Restaurant in Joplin.  Hazel will be remembered for her positive attitude toward life and her ever-present sense of humor. Whether socializing over noon meals or playing dominoes at the Barton County Senior Center, Hazel enjoyed people, especially the fellowship of family and church friends.  Hazel was an active and faithful member of Lamar Church of Christ.      Survivors include a step-son Terry & wife Diane Yount of Lamar; two sisters, Pauline Brous of Lamar and Florence Davidson of Odessa, Texas; nine grandchildren, Tina, John, Trista, Michael, Randy, Brianna, Rachael, Mandy, and Patrick; seven great-grandchildren, Brandon, Joshua Logan, Jordan, Joseph, Joshua, Jaleah, and Cassidy; and a large extended family.
