Helen Buckner

Helen Buckner, age 92, of Lamar, died Monday April 2, 2012 at Truman Healthcare Center.      Helen was born March 18, 1920 at Sapulpa, OK. On October 2, 1938 she married Robert Buckner at Pocahontas, AR and together they had four children.      Spending most of her life as a homemaker, Helen also worked briefly as a Nurses Aide in Atlanta, GA and Lockwood, MO.  After "retirement", she and Robert enjoyed traveling across the country and worked for several years at Silver Dollar City and Compton Ridge Campground in Branson, MO.  Helen was a member of First Baptist Church of Lockwood.      Helen is survived by one son, Steve and Marlys Buckner, of Lamar; one daughter,  Darlene & Dwight Gibson, of Lakeview, AR; a daughter-in-law, Erika Buckner, of Leonville, LA; seven grandchildren, Pam Hale, of Hickory, NC, Brett Buckner, of Breaux Bridge, LA, Clint Buckner, of Chicago, IL, Shelley Chaudoir, of Lafayette, LA, Marcia Broussard, of Duson, LA, Ashley Bunevich, of Orlando, FL, and Drew Buckner, of Lamar, MO; and 12 great grandchildren.      Preceding her in death were her husband of 58 years, one son Rolland Buckner in 2011, one daughter Cynthia Buckner in 1960, and one grandson, Vince Gibson in 1989.     A memorial service for Helen will be held at 10:00 am Friday, April 6, 2012 at Daniel Funeral Home with burial to follow at 12:00 pm at Ash Grove Cemetery, Ash Grove, MO      Contributions are suggested to Billy Graham Evangelistic Association or Samaritan's Purse in care of Daniel Funeral Home.
