Hugh D. Henegar

Hugh Darrel Henegar, Sr., age 68, passed away Friday, September 10, 2010 at his home in Oskaloosa, Missouri following a short illness.        Hugh was born February 22, 1942, at Ramona, Oklahoma, the son of R.N. and Cecile (Wilmoth) Henegar.  At age 11, he gave his life to the Lord and was of the Holiness Faith. After a three-year courtship, he married the love of his life, Kathleen Sue Stewart on February 18, 1961, at Lamar, Missouri. They were blessed with 49 1/2 years together, making their home and raising eleven children in Barton County.        Hugh will be remembered as a creative entrepreneur with a zest for adventure.  He was a skillful mechanic, working on everything from watches and clocks to diesel trucks and auto engines.  A man of many interests, he was a watch-repairman, had owned and operated a trucking company, and raised hogs.  He was a small aircraft pilot and made memorable trips to the Oshkosh Air Show with his family.  He was a watch enthusiast for many years and was a member of the National Association of Watch & Clock Collectors as well as the Experimental Aircraft Association.  Above all, Hugh was devoted to his family and proud of his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.        Survivors include his wife, Kathleen, of the home; six sons and their wives, Hugh, Jr. & Janan Henegar, Sapulpa, Oklahoma, Nathan & Valerie Henegar, Claremore, Oklahoma, Dan & Deborah Henegar, Webb City, Missouri, Rob & Sonya Henegar, New Hope, Arkansas, John & Sharon Henegar, Prim, Arkansas, and Sam & Mitzi Henegar, also of Prim; five daughters and their husbands, Mary & Gary Toney, Liberal, Missouri, Brenda & George Bareis, Summers, Arkansas, Nancy & Greg Venable, Ash Grove, Missouri, Lisa & Todd Hermann, Sapulpa, Oklahoma, and Amy Henegar of Liberal; four brothers, Marion Henegar, Livingston, Texas, Paul Henegar, Hot Springs, Arkansas, Ralph Henegar, Kansas City, Missouri, and Jim Henegar, Liberal; four sisters, Evadene White, Rohnert Park, California, Glenda Stewart, Muldrow, Oklahoma, Connie Peach, Madison, North Carolina, Peggy Wood, Caruthers, California; 29 grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces and nephews.        Hugh was preceded in death by his parents, R.N. & Cecile Henegar; an infant son, Steven Wayne; a brother, Bob Henegar; and two sisters, Jane Lane and Carol Henegar.        Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, September 15th at First Christian Church of Lamar. The family will receive friends from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m. Tuesday at Daniel Funeral Home.  Burial will be in Rosebank Cemetery in Mulberry, Kansas.      Memorial contributions are suggested to the Liberal North City Park in care of Daniel Funeral Home.
