Irma Jane Richey, age 79, of Lamar, passed away Sunday, August 22, 2010 at Barton County Memorial Hospital.
Irma was born July 13, 1931, at White Cloud, Kansas, to Floyd and Grace (Steele) Nuzum. After graduating from White Cloud High School, she married Guy M. Richey on June 14, 1949 at Troy, Kansas. They made their home in Independence, Missouri where Irma worked for many years at Colony Paints in Kansas City, first in factory production and then as an office secretary. Before the challenges of life with rheumatoid arthritis, Irma was an avid outdoors woman who enjoyed fishing and hunting with Guy. In addition to being a warm and hospitable homemaker, she enjoyed hand-work, especially crocheting. After moving to Lamar in 2005, Irma became a member of Oakton United Methodist Church.
Survivors include her husband of 61 years, Guy Richey, of the home; a son and daughter-in-law, Mel & Patricia Richey, Louisburg, Kansas; two daughters, Becky Nay & Ron Carmichael, Oak Grove, Missouri, and Pam Wrestler, Lamar; a sister, Mary Hiner, Pittsburg, Kansas; eight grandchildren, Luke, Chris & Kelly Nay, Scott Richey, Sarah Logan, Hannah Richey, Emily Cates, and Brandy Wrestler; five great-grandchildren, Milo, Maddox, Delaney, Atticus and Isabella; and a large extended family. Irma was preceded in death by her parents, Floyd & Grace Nuzum; two brothers; three sisters; and a son-in-law, Ron Wrestler.
Funeral services will be held at 11:30 a.m. Wednesday, August 25th at Daniel Funeral Home where the family will receive friends from 10:30 a.m. until service time. Burial will be in Lake Cemetery.
Memorial contributions are suggested to the Oakton United Methodist Church Building Fund or the Arthritis Foundation in care of Daniel Funeral Home.
