James Michael Rogers, age 51, of Lamar, unexpectedly passed away Wednesday, November 23, 2016, at Barton County Memorial Hospital.
Michael was born October 13, 1965, in Joplin, Missouri, to James and Joanna (Shofler) Rogers. He was a shade tree mechanic and had worked as a house painter until retiring due to ill health. Michael was a talented cartoonist and enjoyed free-hand drawing.
Survivors include two sons, Rod (Holly Hughes) Rogers of Carl Junction and Michael (Kally Gilman) Rogers of Miami, Oklahoma; a daughter, Miranda Rogers of Webb City; a sister, Melissa Shofler, Lamar; four grandchildren, Aydyn of Miami, Oklahoma, Faithlyn, Kaiser, and Savannah of Webb City; four step-grandchildren, Dustin, Luke, Izabella and LylaJune of Carl Junction; an aunt, Susie Shofler and an uncle, Earl Leonard Shofler, both of Lamar.
Michael was preceded in death by his grandparents, Earl and Ethel Shofler; parents, James and Joanna Rogers; a brother, Gregory Shofler; a sister, Cynthia Rogers; an aunt Linda Shofler; and a nephew, Joshua Shofler.
Honoring his wishes, Michael has been cremated and a gathering to celebrate his life will be held at a later date.
