Jennnifer Anne Swaim

Jennifer Anne Swaim, age 47, of Jasper, Missouri, passed away Monday, October 4, 2010 at Freeman Hospital West in Joplin following a courageous battle with breast cancer.        Jennifer was born June 23, 1963, at Maryville, Missouri, one of the 11 children of LeRoy Wilmes and Ada Mae (Holt) Wilmes. After graduating from Maryville High School, she earned a Masters Degree in Physical Education from Northwest Missouri State University.  Jennifer was a teacher for 17 years; the last ten as a math instructor in the Jasper Public Schools.  She was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Lamar, Mo.        On June 21, 2008, in Nevada, Missouri, Jennifer married Bruce Swaim and he survives of the home. Also surviving are three daughters, Larissa & husband Michael Wolford of Lamar, Missouri, Laura & husband Josh Hensley of Purdy, Missouri, and Latricia Atkins of the home; one stepdaughter, Brandi Dawn (Swaim) Rupert of Miami OK;  her parents, LeRoy Wilmes & Ada Mae Wilmes of Maryville, Missouri; four brothers and their wives, Andy & Betty Wilmes, Collinsville, Oklahoma, Tom & Sandy Wilmes, Maryville, Missouri, Larry & Diana Wilmes, Florence, Alabama, and Ken & Dawn Wilmes, Brentwood, Tennessee; six sisters and four brothers-in-law, Judy Sobbing, Gladstone, Missouri, Jeanie Burns, Kansas City, Missouri, Janie & Steve Burns, Kansas City, Missouri, Joy & Mike Farnan, Richmond, Missouri, Joan & Art Markworth, Smithville, Missouri, and Jolene & Tom Guinn, Port Orange, Florida; two grandsons, Colton and Clayton Wolford; and a large extended family.        The family will receive friends from 2:00 until 4:00 p.m. Saturday, October 9th at the Jasper High School Gymnasium. There will be a visitation from 7:00 until 8:00 p.m. on Monday, October 11th at St. Gregory’s Catholic Church in Maryville, Missouri. Funeral mass will be conducted at 11:30 a.m. Tuesday, October 12th at St. Gregory’s Catholic Church in Maryville, Missouri with burial immediately following in St. Columba Cemetery at Conception, Missouri.        Memorial contributions are suggested to the Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation in care of Daniel Funeral Home 1201 Broadway, Lamar, MO.
