Jerome
“Jerry” Kincaid, age 72, passed peacefully at his home, Monday, February 15,
2010. He was born December 1, 1937 at
Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, the fourth of ten children born to Arthur Martin and
Ruth Elizabeth (Basore) Kincaid. He
moved to Barton County in 1953 and was a 1956 graduate of Lamar High School.
Jerry enlisted in the US Navy from 1956 to
1961 and served aboard the USS St. Paul during the Korean War.
On February 28, 1960, at First Christian
Church at Mindenmines, MO, Jerry married Martha Darlene Weathermon and to this
union was born one son and three daughters. Jerry and Martha would have
celebrated their 50th Wedding Anniversary next week. .
The Kincaids lived in Wichita Kansas from
1961 until 1968. While there, Jerry
worked for Wards Auto Department. In
1968, they moved to Kansas City, where Jerry worked at KW Dart until the North
Kansas City plant closed. He then worked
for General Motors for 31 years. Six of
those years, he worked at the Tarry Town New York plant. In October of 2006, Jerry retired and he and
Martha moved back to Barton County to their home in Lamar.
Jerry was a former member of the North
East Baptist Church of Kansas City, a member of United Auto Workers, a Life Time
member of the USS St. Paul Naval Association since 2000.
Survivors include his wife Martha of the
home; one son, Jonathan and his wife Kimberly, of Leavenworth, KS; three
daughters and their husbands, Sherri and Mark Wakeman of Holden, MO, Katherine
and Scott Joseph of Independence, MO, and Marsha and Ron Blalock of Lamar;
three brothers and their wives, David and Linda Kincaid of Lamar, Charles and
Marilyn Kincaid of Independence, MO, Paul and Audrey Kincaid of Chattanooga,
TN; one sister, Margaret and her husband Jack Craig of Coleman, FL; fifteen
grandchildren, Tiffany, Jessica, John Lee, Yvonne, Seth, Noah, Tyler, Nikki,
John Maynard, Cassie, Cristine, Maxwell, Ron Jr., Ryan, and Ben; nine
great-grandchildren, Charlie, Ryan, Kaitlin, Autumn, Jack, Nicole, Ireland,
Evan, and Dayton.
Jerry was preceded in death by his
parents; four brother, Lewis, Robert, Warren and Richard Kincaid; and one
sister Betty Waters.
Funeral Services for Jerry will be 2:00 pm
Friday, February 19, 2010 at Daniel Funeral Home. Visitation will be 1:00 pm Friday until
service time. Burial will follow at
Howell Cemetery, Milford, MO with military funeral honors conducted by Lamar
VFW Post 3691 and Missouri Funeral Honor Guard.
