Jerry H. Yount, age 92, of Lamar, passed
away Thursday, August 27, 2009, at Barton
County Memorial
Hospital.
Jerry was born November 28, 1916, in Dade County, Missouri,
one of the 12 children born to James and Sarah (Berry) Yount. Jerry was preceded in death by his parents; a
son, Larry Allen ; two brothers; and three sisters.
A
World War II veteran, Jerry served in the U.S. Army from 1944 through 1947. He had worked as a farm hand and a light
truck driver for several years before beginning his career as a cable splicer
for Horton Engineering. Jerry was an
active and faithful member of Lamar Church of Christ.
Survivors include his wife, Hazel (Capp)
Yount, of the home; a son and daughter-in-law, Terry & Diane Yount, Lamar,
Missouri; four brothers and their wives, Dean & Rusty Yount, Carthage, Morris
& Maxine Yount, Sarcoxie, Dale & Edna Yount, and Bill & Colleen
Yount all of Fremont, Nebraska; two sisters and their husbands, Mina & Jess
Williams, Fremont, Nebraska and Bonnie & Laurn Rae, Joplin; and two
grandchildren, Amanda Meagen Yount and Patrick Raines; and a large extended
family.
Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m.
Monday at Daniel Funeral Home where the family will receive friends from 4:00
until 6:00 p.m. Sunday. Burial will be
in Paradise Cemetery south of Jasper with military honors
conducted by VFW Post 3691.
