John Charles Gould, age 54, of Chicago, IL, and formerly of Lamar, died Wednesday, December 29, 2010.
John was born October 18, 1956, in Lamar, the only child of Eddie and Donaldean Gould. The Gould family left Lamar in 1963 after the Lawn Boy plant in Lamar moved to Galesburg, Illinois, where his father was transferred. He attended Galesburg schools, graduating from Galesburg High School in 1975. After graduation from Knox College in Galesburg in 1979, he moved to St. Louis where he managed Pacific Stereo. The closing of the stereo store prompted him to move to Chicago where he looked for another retail opportunity in which he could be his own boss. His outgoing personality and love of selling led him to his career as "Mr. Tupperware" where he became a cutting-edge consultant and district manager in a field of 2,500 Chicagoland Tupperware salespeople.
John was preceded in death by his parents, Edward Charles Gould and Donaldean (O'Neal) Gould.
Memorial Services will be 10:00 am Thursday, January 20, 2011 Daniel Funeral Home with Pastor Bob Petersen officiating.
