Josephine Langworthy Morgan, age 89, died Wednesday, December 19, 2012 at Golden Age Living Center in El Dorado, Kansas.
Josephine was born June 19, 1923 in Kansas City, Missouri to Arthur John and Georgia Myrtle (Kingsolver) Langworthy. She graduated from Northeast High School in Kansas City, Missouri where she studied Latin and was a straight A student. On May 26, 1940 she married Ira Pershing Morgan and they had celebrated 65 years of marriage before his death December 16, 2005.
Josephine was a member of Asbury United Methodist Church in Prairie Village, KS, before moving to Lamar where she was a member of the Lamar United Methodist Church. In the 70's she was named United Methodist Woman of the Year. In addition to being a homemaker, Josephine had worked 15 years as a department manager in sundries at Katz Drug Co. in Kansas City. Josephine owned and operated the Mode O'Day on the Lamar square, was a member of the Better Business Women's Association and Homemakers Club of Lamar, and served as president of the board of directors of Psychanalysis in Kansas City from 2000 until her death.
Survivors include two sons, Dennis Morgan of Stover, MO and Randall (Deborah) Morgan of Memphis, Tennessee; two daughters, Paula (Michael) Fritschen of El Dorado, and Pamela Jo Reeves of Overland Park, KS; a son-in-law, Gregory Roth of LaPalma, California; two sisters, Betty Jane Hall of Lee's Summit, MO and Georgia Lee Arnold of Lady Lake, FL; a sister-in-law, Dora Lea Calkins, Prairie Village, Kansas; nine grand-children; five great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Preceding her in death were her parents; her step-father, Ernest Little; her husband, Ira Morgan; a daughter, Joyce Darlene Roth; a daughter-in-law, Ann Morgan; a step- brother, Jewell Little; and a half-sister, Beverly Jean Robinson.
Funeral services will be held at 10:00 am Saturday, December 29th at Lamar United Methodist Church with Rev. Don Keithly officiating. Burial will be in Liberal City Cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 7:00 pm Friday December 28, 2012 at Daniel Funeral Home.
