Laura Worbington

Laura Inez Worbington, age 75, passed away peacefully at her home in Lamar Saturday morning, August 15, 2009.        Laura was born November 8, 1933, in Alabama, one of eight children born to Charles and Minnie (Greenhaw) Peace.  On October 16, 1948, at Rosedale, Mississippi, she married Daniel Burris “Boone” Worbington and they made their home in Greenville, Mississippi.  In addition to being a devoted wife and mother, Laura worked as a nutritionist, managing public school cafeterias for many years.  She was known for her work ethic and her ability to rise to any challenge.  She retired in 1989 and moved to Lamar in 1996 to be near family.        In December of 1991, Daniel, Laura’s husband of 43 years, passed away.  Laura also joins an infant son, Charles Edward; her parents; two brothers and five sisters who preceded her in death.        Survivors include a son, Ronald Daniel & his wife Janice of Brandon, Mississippi; four daughters, Laura & husband Fred Floyd, Shaw, MS, Nancy & husband Patrick Gould, Boyne City, Michigan; Margie Dell Worbington, Nixa, Missouri; and Virginia “Ginnie” Keatts, Lamar; ten grandchildren; and 23 great-grandchildren.        A graveside funeral service will be held at 12:30 p.m. Saturday, August 22nd at Lakeview Gardens Cemetery in Greenville, Mississippi.  The family will receive friends from 11:30 until noon. Saturday at Boone Funeral Home in Greenville.        Memorial contributions are suggested to T.A.T.S. or to Oakton United Methodist Church in care of Daniel Funeral Home.
