Lila Sue Achey, age 81, of Lamar, passed away Saturday, June 17,
2017, at Joplin Health and Rehabilitation Center.
Lila and her twin sister, Ila, were born February 13, 1936, at
their family home in Wentworth, Missouri, to Hugh and Jennie (Ross) Reynolds.
She was preceded in death by her parents; two brothers, Wayne Reynolds and Bill
Reynolds; and six sisters, Pauline Woods, Janice Hunt, Margret Hooper, Betty
Edwards, Ila Bethany, and Dilby Dunshee.
On June 3, 1956, at Kendricktown, Missouri, Lila married Alvin
Achey. They raised their two daughters and farmed in Barton County near Liberal
for many years. Lila also had worked at Jones Drug in Liberal. A few years
after Alvin's death in 1990, Lila retired from the farm and moved to
Lamar.
She had been a member of the Christian Church of Liberal, American
Legion Auxiliary, the Friendly Folks Club, and enjoyed the fellowship of a
bowling league.
Survivors include her daughters, Susette Butts, Liberal, Missouri
and Lorraine Achey, Tulsa, Oklahoma; two sisters, Beverly Watson Medford,
Oregon and Connie Adams, Eagle Point, Oregon; two grandchildren, Roselie Burr
and Andrew Burr; and four great-grandchildren: Elijah Clines, Skylan Burr,
Austin Burr, and Novalie Burr.
The family will receive friends from 9:30 until 11:30 a.m.
Wednesday at Daniel Funeral Home in Lamar followed by a graveside committal
service at noon Wednesday at Hackney Cemetery.
