Loren Morey

Loren E. Morey, age 82, of rural Lamar, passed Wednesday, May 17, 2017 at his home after a short illness.      Loren was born November 29, 1934 in Lamar, Missouri to George A. and Edna (Millard) Morey.  He graduated Lamar High School and then served his country in the United States Army.  On December 11, 1960, he married Ellen Jo Chapman in Milford, Missouri and together they raised two sons. He was a member of Milford Christian Church and was a livestock and crop farmer.  Loren loved to ride horses with his grandchildren, and take them for a ride on his team of horses & wagon. Watching his grandchildren play ball also brought a lot of joy to his life.      Loren is survived by his wife of 56 years; two sons and their wives, Kevin & Shari Morey of Lee’s Summit, Missouri and Kent and Melissa Morey of Lamar, Missouri; six grandchildren, Erica, Erin, Eriel, Garrett, Kara, and Brenna; one brother, Earl & Susan Morey, Gainesville, Florida; three sisters, Reba Fanning, Lamar, Gloria & Bud McCulley, Lamar and Pauline & Herman Blankenship, Toledo, Ohio.  He was preceded in death by his parents and two sisters, Alice Rall and Maxine Obert.      Funeral service will be 2:00 pm Sunday, May 21, 2017 at Milford Christian Church with Randy Garriss officiating.  Burial will follow in Memory Gardens Cemetery.      The family will receive friends 6:00 to 7:00 pm, Saturday at Daniel Funeral Home.      Contributions are suggested to Milford Christian Church in care of Daniel Funeral Home.
