Lowell Virgil Schlotzhauer, age 77, of
Jerico Springs, died Friday, December 4, 2009 at St. John’s Regional Medical
Center, after a long term illness with recent complications.
Lowell was
born January 2, 1932, at the family home in Pleasant Grove, MO
to Virgil and Eunice (Hickam) Schlotzhauer.
He graduated High School at Pilot Grove, Missouri and attended the Baptist Church. In 1950, he married Ruth Lavern Purdy, they
had three children and they divorced in 1976.
In 1980, he married Patsy Nell (Music) King, at Richards, Missouri. Lowell
worked as a small engine mechanic at Barton County Implement for 23 years,
retiring in 2005 because of health problems.
Survivors include two daughters, Donna
Waterhouse and husband Rick, of El Dorado Springs, and Diane Schlotzhauer and
husband Bill Armstrong, of El Dorado Springs; three brothers, Aubrey
Schlotzhauer of Pilot Grove, MO, Jimmy Schlotzhauer, of Warsaw, MO, and Barry
Schlotzhauer of Kansas City, MO and their families; seven grandchildren, Arlinda
Johnson, Blake Waterhouse, Chauntae Waterhouse, Annette and husband Jason Sheriff, Johnathan
and wife Sarah Taffner, Danielle and husband Philip Row, and Virgil and Catie
Taffner; three great-grandchildren, Jeremiah Johnson, Hannah Johnson and Emily
Taffner; and numerous other family and friends.
Lowell
was preceded in death by his wife, Pat in 1985; his son Randal Lowell
Schlotzhauer, age 20, in 1980, and twin great-grandsons, Dreygan and Riley
Taffner in 2009.
Funeral services for Lowell will be held at 10:00 a.m. Tuesday,
December 8th at Daniel Funeral Home where the family will receive friends from
7:00 to 8:00 p.m. Monday. Burial will be
at Newton Burial
Park in Nevada, MO.
