Margaret J. Dermott

Services will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday at Lamar United Methodist Church, for Margaret J. Dermott, 84, a life-long resident of Lamar, who died March 21, 2011, at Grace Living Center in Tulsa OK.  Burial will be in Lamar Cemetery.  Visitation will be held between 6:00-7:00 p.m. on Wednesday, at Daniel Funeral Home in Lamar.  Donations in lieu of flowers may be sent to Lamar United Methodist Church.    She is survived by one sister, Marian Johnson, Pittsburg KS; two daughters, Carol and Dennis Jeffries, Cedar Rapids IA and Joyce Maggi, Portland ME; and one son, Dale and Janet Dermott, Lamar MO; 8 grandchildren and 19 great-grandchildren.    Preceding her in death were six brothers, Allen Hurst, Clifford Hurst, Winifred Hurst, Phillip Hurst, Gordon Hurst and Robert Hurst.    Margaret Dermott was born March 13, 1927, to Merritt and Beryl Hurst, in Lamar MO.  She graduated from Lamar High School in 1945 and completed RN training at Kansas City General Hospital in 1948.  She worked as a clinical and surgical nurse with Dr. Alvin R. Cain in Lamar, for 41 years.  She was a member of Lamar United Methodist Church.    She married Calvin Dermott on June 6, 1948, who died in August 7, 1994.
