Margie "Granny" Baggs, age 89, of Lamar, passed away Saturday, June 18, 2011 at Barton County Memorial Hospital.
Margie was born January 20, 1922 Kansas City, Missouri, one of the eight children of William & Eva (Duckett) Dinwiddie. On September 1, 1938, at Carthage, Missouri, Margie married Dorwin "Buster" Baggs and he preceded her in death June 13, 1983. She was also preceded in death by her parents; five brothers; a sister; three daughters, Bonnie Lee, Karen Baggs, and Carol Inman; her son, Dale Baggs; two grandsons; an infant granddaughter; a granddaughter-in-law; and a great-granddaughter.
Survivors include a son, Larry Baggs, Symerna, Tennessee; two daughters, Barbara Clark, Tucson, Arizona and Dianna & husband Hubert Markley, Lamar; a sister, Norma Hanna, Visalia, California; 18 grandchildren; 38 great-grandchildren; nine great-great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews; and a large extended family.
Margie's life revolved around her family and she enjoyed being a wife, mother, grandmother and homemaker. She was a wonderful cook and gardener who enjoyed quilting and crochet. She was a natural care-giver and had worked at Chastain's Nursing Home for seven years.
A graveside funeral service will be held at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, June 21st at Morehead Cemetery.
